Samcef environment
Customizing a Simcenter Samcef input file with user defined text
In some cases, you may want to insert either specific text or an entire text file into your solver input file to include solver commands or options that Pre/Post does not yet support. You can create a User Defined Text type of modeling object to add that text.
This additional text will be transferred "as-is" to Simcenter Samcef solvers.
User Defined Prolog or Epilog
For Simcenter Samcef solutions, you can create such a User Defined Text by:
Manually defining the text to add to the input file.Note: The added text must be compliant with the Simcenter Samcef command language terminology. For more information, see the Simcenter Samcef documentation.
Selecting a file to include with the input file.Note: The file must be a Simcenter Samcef output bank file generated by the Samcef .SAUVE BANQUE command. For more information, see the Simcenter Samcef documentation.
You can create two types of Simcenter Samcef User Defined Text:
User Defined Text Epilog that will be appended to the input file.
User Defined Text Prolog that will be prepended to the input file.
User Defined Text in simulation objects
In some simulation objects, you can also add a user defined text to define extra parameters for the command that will be exported for that simulation object.
For more details, see Customizing simulation objects with user defined text (Simcenter Samcef).
User Defined Text after the import
When you import a Simcenter Samcef model into Simcenter 3D, imported data that are not compatible with the selected analysis and solution types are stored in an external file with _epilog.dat as the file extension.
This file is referenced in the File (.INPUT) field of the User Defined Text epilog modeling object.
User Defined Text and units of the stored values
When you export a model, in the Advanced Solver Options of the solution, you can set the Output File Units system that will be used to convert your Simcenter 3D model units the Simcenter Samcef solver input file units.
As with all the information that you will store in the User Defined Text text, areas will be transferred "as-is" to the Simcenter Samcef solvers; no units conversion will be performed on the numerical values that they contained.
Therefore, all the numerical values of the User Defined Text text areas must be compliant with the Output File Units system you choose.
For more information on the Output File Units used when you export your model, see Adjust advanced solver options (Simcenter Samcef).
