Margin of safety > Load case sets
Modify combined load cases in a spreadsheet or text editor
To modify a large number of combined load cases, you can export them, modify them in a spreadsheet or text editor, and then import them into the software.
Note:
When you import a file with valid combined load cases, all of the entries in the Load Case Combine dialog box are overwritten with the entries in the comma separated values (CSV) file. Therefore, if you add any combined load cases to the dialog box after you export, those are entries are removed when you import.
In the Simulation Navigator, under the solution for which you want to modify combined load cases, expand the Results node, right-click Structural, and choose Combined Load Cases.
In the Combined Load Cases group, right-click any column heading and choose Export to CSV (.csv format) or Export to Spreadsheet (.xlsx format). When you choose Export to CSV, you must first save the file. You can then open it in a spreadsheet application or text editor. When you choose Export to Spreadsheet, the file opens in Excel.
In the text editor or spreadsheet application, make any of the following changes:Replace the scale factors with real numbers, or one of the following abbreviations:To use the Limit to Ultimate Factor customer default, type ltou for limit to ultimate or u for ultimate. To use the inverse of the Limit to Ultimate Factor customer default, type utol for ultimate to limit or l for limit.Rename combined load case.Note: Combined load case components (subcases) cannot be renamed. They must match the name of the subcase in the solution. Remove a subcase from a combined load case.Add combined load case.Remove a combined load case.
To import your updated file, right-click any column heading and choose Import from CSV.Note: If you export to a spreadsheet, you must save the file to CSV format before you can import it.The Information window opens with a summary of the imported values. The Combined Load Cases list is updated with the new values depending on their status in the Information window.Import Successful indicates valid entries. Valid entries are imported to the Combined Load Cases list, and they overwrite all of the existing combined load cases.Import Suspicious indicates that some of the combined load cases cannot be added because of an invalid name or scale factor.Import Failed indicates that none of the entries are valid. The values are not imported. If the file imports but the subcases are combined into one row for each combined load case, most likely the file was saved as text instead of CSV. If you exported to a CSV file and edited it in a spreadsheet application, you must explicitly save the file in CSV format before you import it.
When the import results are successful, click OK.
