Post-processing aeroelastic flutter analysis results

When you load aeroelastic flutter analysis results from a Simcenter Nastran SOL 145 Aeroelastic Flutter solution, you can post-process the results like you can any results. In addition, post-processing provides the following:

  • Display of information about the aeroelastic parameters.

  • Groups of aeroelastic elements for quick creation of plots.

Display of information about the aeroelastic parameters

The Post Processing Navigator displays information about the aeroelastic parameters in three places:

  • (1) As tooltips

  • (2) In the Description column

  • (3) In the legend of a post view

The information includes the damping, eigenvalue, Mach number, density ratio, and velocity as shown in the figure.

Groups of aeroelastic elements for quick creation of plots

When the software solves a SOL 145 Aeroelastic Flutter solution, it generates Q4AERO and T3AERO aeroelastic elements in the model. When you load an aeroelastic results file, the Post Processing Navigator places these elements in a group, called AERO, under the post view. You can use this group to quickly display and hide the aeroelastic elements as shown in the figure.

  • To show only the group, in the Post Processing Navigator, expand the Groups node, right-click the AERO node, and choose Show or Show Only.

  • To hide the group, in the Post Processing Navigator, expand the Groups nodes, right-click the AERO node, and choose Hide.

You can also rename and delete the group.

How do I

Create a mesh of aero panels

Create an aero spline

Define aerodynamic parameters

Define flutter method and aerodynamic conditions

Create M versus k table

Assign a modeling object to a solution or solution subcase

Assign an aerodynamic matrix modeling object to the solution

Create V-g and V-f plots
