Ply materials
A Ply Material is a laminate-specific object that assigns material properties to plies. You can create:
A fiber-reinforced ply material that combines fiber and matrix material properties. It computes the equivalent stiffness and strength properties using the specified fiber reinforcement type.
A core ply material that models transverse shear core failure for laminate sandwiches.The software computes core shear failure indices, core strength ratios, and core margins of safety for the core ply using the values from the core ply material. Core results replace the in-plane ply results in advanced post reporting of laminate results. The failure metrics are output for both the 13 direction and the 23 direction.
Ply materials are different from sample materials. You use sample materials to create ply materials. You manage ply materials exclusively in the Laminate Modeler, Layup Modeler, and Laminate Ply Material Manager dialog boxes.
Ply material names and IDs
The software automatically creates ply material names by concatenating the Ply Material type and a consecutive ID. You can change both the name and the ID by clicking on the appropriate cell in the Ply Material List in the Laminate Ply Material Manager dialog box.
