Appending at import (Simcenter Samcef)

Appending data from a Simcenter Samcef file into the current Simcenter Samcef model

You can append the data from a Simcenter Samcef .dat plain text bank file or from a Simcenter Samcef .sdb binary database to the current model.

The append process follows the same workflow as the import of a Simcenter Samcef model, but it adds the imported data to the current FEM and/or Simulation files instead of creating new files.

Note:

  • Unlike the classic import workflow, appended constraints, loads, and simulation objects are not added to the active solution or step. You must manually add them to the desired solution or step.

  • Unlike the classic import workflow, appended data that is not compatible with the current analysis and solution types is ignored and thus not stored in the User Defined Text epilog.

  • The User Defined Text epilog of the model that you append data to is unchanged by the append action, so you must verify that the data stored in this epilog does not interfere with the new model content.

Appending specific data from a Simcenter Nastran file into the current Simcenter Samcef model

You can also use the Append Merge option to import portions of a Nastran input deck into a Simcenter Samcef model. For more information, see Import Nastran data to a current Simcenter Samcef model.
