Directivity Analysis scenario (Simcenter Nastran FEM acoustics and Acoustics BEM)

You can plot the directivity of sound sources when an arc-shaped 1D microphone mesh is available. This plot allows you to determine the spatial distribution of the external sound radiated by a vibrating structure at specific frequencies. You plot the directivity on a 2D polar coordinate system with angle and acoustic results pairs. Alternatively, plot the directivity in an XY plot with angles on the X-axis and complex acoustic results on the Y-axis.

Loudspeaker example with an open microphone circle Plot in 2D polar format

In this example, in the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, in the Parameters node, the Zero Angle Direction is set to Z to coincide with the ZC axis of the model. To illustrate only the relationship between the microphone arrangement and the curve in the directivity plot, acoustic pressure was not measured between 125° and 235°. The plot shows the highest acoustic pressure at 0° in front of the loudspeaker.
