Legend dialog box

The Legend dialog box can also appear as a tab within the Post View dialog box.

Header
Display Determines how the header text is displayed.NoneHides the header text.DefaultAutomatically generates the header text based on your solution and displays results information, including the units, coordinate system, and deformation used.CustomizedDisplays the Custom Header dialog box, where you can set the text to appear in the header based on predefined terms or your own text.When you select Customized, click Customize header text to display the Custom Header dialog box.
Color Bar
Display Color Bar Turns on the display of the color bar in the legend.
Legend Extremes Specifies how the color bar scales the colors across the range of values.ResultScales the color bar across the complete range of values for the selected result for the entire model.DisplayedScales the color bar only across the range of values for the selected result for the visible model components.SpecifiedScales the color across a specified range of values.If you select Specified, enter the minimum and maximum values in the Min and Max text boxes.Combined Viewport ResultScales the color bar across the complete range of values for all post views overlaid in the current viewport.Combined Viewport DisplayedScales the color bar across the displayed range of values for all post views overlaid in the current viewport.
Min Available when Legend Extremes is set to Specified.Sets the minimum value for the color bar. Note: Values that are below the minimum specified range, called underflow results, are also not included in identification operations using the Identify Results command or annotations using the New Annotation command.
Max Available when Color and Value Control is set to Specified.Sets the maximum value for the color bar.Note: Values that are above the maximum specified range, called overflow results, are also not included in identification operations using the Identify Results command or annotations using the New Annotation command.
Spacing Specifies how the colors are spaced or scaled across the levels. Equally SpacedEqually space the colors across a specified number of levels.Note: If you set Spacing to Equally Spaced, the software can automatically assist you in keeping the color values in ascending order if you customize them.Round OffSpecify a minimum number of levels across which the software scales the colors and then rounds the value. Level IncrementSpecify the number of levels and the range of values per level. The software uses those values to scale the colors.
Scale Specifies the scale applied to the levels in the color bar. Choose from Automatic, Linear, and Logarithmic.
Levels Appears when Spacing is set to Equally Spaced.Specifies the number of color levels for the color bar. Choose a value between 2 and 50.
Minimum Number of Levels Appears when Spacing is set to Round Off.Specifies the minimum number of color levels for the color bar. Choose a value between 2 and 50.
Maximum Number of Levels Appears when Spacing is set to Level Increment.Specifies the maximum number of color levels for the color bar. Choose a value between 2 and 50.
Increment per Level Appears when Spacing is set to Level Increment.Specifies the range of values per level.
Override Value Available when Spacing is set to Equally Spaced.Displays the Customize button, which you can use to override the range of values in each level of the color bar.
Spectrum Specifies the color spectrum assigned to results values.StructuralThermalGrayscale****Stoplight
Invert Spectrum Inverts the selected color spectrum. For example, if you invert a structural spectrum, the highest values are blue and the lowest values are red.
Override Colors Available when Spacing is set to Equally Spaced.Displays the Customize button, which you can use to override the automatically generated colors in the color bar.
Customize Available when the Override Colors or Override Values check box is selected.Opens the Color Bar dialog box dialog box to let you override the automatically generated colors or range of values in the color bar.
Overflow****Underflow These settings determine how values outside the specified range are displayed. Overflow results have values above the maximum specified range.Underflow results have values below the minimum specified range.Choose from the following options for displaying underflow and overflow results:NoneOverflow or underflow results are not marked.ShadedRenders overflow or underflow results as opaque faces using the specified color.Click the color palette to modify the specified color.TranslucentRenders overflow or underflow results as translucent faces using the specified color.Click the color palette to modify the specified color.ClippedHides overflow or underflow results.
Text
Format Specifies the notational system used to display results values. Choose from:AutomaticThe software chooses a numeric format based on the absolute difference between consecutive color bar levels. See Automatic numeric formatting criteria.Fixed PointDisplays results in decimal notation with a fixed number of decimal places you specify.ScientificDisplays results in scientific notation using a fixed number of decimal places you specify.
Decimal Places Appears when Format is set to Fixed Point or Scientific.Specifies the number of decimal places for fixed point numerals and scientific notation. Choose a value from 0 to 9.
Text Color Displays the Color dialog box where you can select the color of the text in the header and color bar.
Overwrite Global Font Lets you overwrite the size of the font set for the software.
Scale Factor Available when Overwrite Global Font is selected.Applies a specified scale factor to the fonts that appear in the header text and color bar.
Box
Draw Border Turns on the display of boxes around the legend text and color bar. The border color is the same color as the legend font color.
Fill Box Fills the boxes with a background color.To specify the fill color, click the color box to open the Color dialog box.
Translucent Sets the background fill of the boxes to translucent.Note: If translucency is not enabled, the software turns it on. To enable translucency yourself, choose MenuPreferencesVisualization. Click RenderingGraphics and select the Translucency check box.
