Flow Convergence
You create a Flow Convergence simulation object to define convergence criteria for flow variables through their respective modeling objects. The software stops a flow analysis when the following flow variables reach specified thresholds on the whole or a subset of the fluid domain:
U, V, and W velocity.
Velocity magnitude and pressure.
Turbulence viscosity.
Temperature and enthalpy.
The flow solver always uses the nodal values of these variables.
When you use the Flow Convergence simulation object in an analysis, the specified settings override the residual based convergence. This is a less restrictive analysis compared to the residual convergence analysis, in which the flow analysis converges when all maximum or RMS flow residuals are smaller than the target maximum residual on the whole domain. With the flow convergence simulation object, you obtain stable values in the specified region for desired flow variables.
Convergence options
You can request the output of residuals for the solved flow parameters to monitor them during the solve.
When Analysis Type is set to Coupled Thermal-Flow or Coupled Thermal-Flow-Structural, you can force the solution to respect the thermal analysis convergence criteria. The analysis only converges when the coupled analysis convergence criteria is met.
When you define a fan curve or mixture in an analysis, you can force the flow solver to meet the fan curve convergence and mixture mass fraction convergence criteria.
