Surface Dipole Parameters dialog box

This modeling object lets you specify the parameters for the surface dipole acoustic source. It corresponds to the PACSPO2 bulk entry.

Modeling Object
Name Sets the name of the modeling object.
Label Sets a unique numerical identifier for the modeling object.
Properties
Description Lets you enter a brief description. Click to open a text editor where you can enter a longer description.
Card Name Displays the name of the Simcenter Nastran bulk entry.
Surface Dipole Parameters
Type Lets you choose the flow type:CompressibleThe flow is compressible. That is, the flow pressure results will also contain acoustic information.IncompressibleThe flow is incompressible. That is, the flow pressure results do not contain acoustic information.
Edge Correction Controls whether the software accounts for a numerical correction at the component edges of a truncated area that is selected as the source domain. For example, you model only a flap or opening in a duct, and you want to account for the sharp edges of this component. You can use this when you model only a truncated source area, The effect of edge correction can be significant on acoustic results from interior flow. An example is the flow inside a duct, where other acoustic sources surrounding the component contribute to the overall results. However, the effect of edge correction on acoustic results from exterior flow, for example, around an automotive side mirror, may be negligible.Note: Do not use Edge Correction to analyze a truncated source area that simulates smooth transitions between surfaces. For example, you cannot rely on edge correction in a model where only half of a duct is used as an acoustic source and surfaces transition smoothly.
