CBUSH element force in Response Dynamics

Simcenter 3D Response Dynamics computes forces in CBUSH elements using the stiffness, modal displacements and damping from a Simcenter 3D Response Dynamics analysis. The element force is computed using:

where:

  • F = Force in the CBUSH element

  • K = Stiffness of the element

  • K4 = Structural damping

  • B = Viscous damping

  • w = Frequency

  • i = Indeterminate (imaginary) part

  • n = Mode index

  • x = Relative displacement of element nodes

You define CBUSH element damping on the Nastran PBUSH entry. For more information see Defining PBUSH structural damping (Nastran).

You enable the new CBUSH force computation method on the Evaluate Elemental Function Response dialog box, or the Evaluate Contour Results dialog box, by enabling the Evaluate using Displacements check box .

If you do not enable the new element force calculation method, the computed CBUSH element forces may not be correct because the imaginary terms will be ignored.

You can plot CBUSH element forces using Evaluate Function Response Results or Evaluate Contour Results.

Evaluate Function Response Results

  1. On the Simulation Navigator, right-click the event and choose Evaluate Function ResponseElemental.

  2. In the Evaluate Elemental Function Response dialog box, in the Spring Force Evaluation Option group, select Evaluate using Displacements .

  3. In the graphics window, select the elements for which to plot forces.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Select the graphics window or a new window in which create the XY plot.

Evaluate Contour Results

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, eight-click the event and choose Evaluate Contour ResponseResponse.

  2. In the Evaluate Response Results dialog box, select Element Force .

  3. In the Spring Force Evaluation Option group, select Evaluate using Displacements

  4. In the graphics window, select the elements for which to plot forces.

  5. In the Point Value Group, click .

  6. In the Equation Selection dialog box, select the Record Name.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Select the graphics window or a new window in which create the XY plot.
