Understanding the export of PARAM,WTMASS

Nastran uses the value of the PARAM,WTMASS parameter to multiply the terms of the structural mass matrix. Since all masses are defined in consistent mass units, the software divides those masses by the value of the WTMASS parameter when you export or solve your model. This keeps the values in your Nastran input file consistent with the WTMASS specification. In NX, to define a value for PARAM,WTMASS, you can:

• Specify PARAM,WTMASS as a parameter in the Customer Defaults dialog box.

• Defining a value for the WTMASS option in the Solution Parameters dialog box.

• Defining WTMASS in the User Defined section of the Solution Parameters dialog box.

Note:

Although you can also create a User Defined Text modeling object that defines a value for PARAM,WTMASS, the software will not use WTMASS to divide the masses in your model.
