Convection in cavity (Simcenter Samcef)

With convection in closed cavities, you can model the thermal exchange in two ways:

  • You can define a cavity node from which the fluid temperature is automatically retrieved during the computation. On this node, you can add thermal inertia with a Nodal Capacity [T237] element.

  • You can define a classic convection with the cavity borders as supports. In this case, you must specify:The Convection Coefficient (CONV).The Exponent (EXP) of the convection law.

Where do I find it?

To define the cavity convection, do one of the following:

  • In the Simulation Navigator, right-click Constraint ContainerNew ConstraintCavity Convection.

  • In the Simulation Navigator under a solution, right-click ConstraintsNew ConstraintCavity Convection.

  • Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Cavity Convection .

  • Select geometry. Right-click and choose Create ConstraintCavity Convection.
