Axisymmetric Solid (structural) / Plane Stress / Plane Strain physical property dialog boxes (Simcenter Samcef)

The physical properties available in the dialog box depend on the mesh collector type for which the physical property table is set.

Physical Property Table
Name Sets the name of the physical property table.
Label Sets a unique numerical identifier. The number is incremented automatically for the next physical property you create.
Properties
Material Specifies a material for the associated elements.Select a material from the list of materials assigned to the model, or click Choose material to define a new material.
Proportional Damping
Damping Type Specifies a damping type. No DampingNo damping.ViscousLets you define a viscous (or non-modal) damping.Hysteretic Stiffness FactorLets you define hysteretic (or structural) damping based a given stiffness factor.Hysteretic Flexibility FactorLets you define hysteretic (or structural) damping based a given flexibility factor. For more information on damping, see Damping (Simcenter Samcef).
Viscous Stiffness Factor (ALPHA) Appears when Damping Type is set to Viscous.Sets the viscous stiffness factor. To define the stiffness factor as a function of time or frequency, click and choose New FieldTable. After you create the table field, you can set the scale factor by clicking EditScale Factor. Note: Only nonlinear analysis supports Viscous Stiffness Factor (ALPHA) as a function of time. For other analyses, you must set the Viscous Stiffness Factor (ALPHA) to a constant. Otherwise, a warning appears in the Information window when you attempt to solve, and the time dependency is not exportedFor more information, see the ALPHA parameter of the Samcef .AMO command.
Viscous Mass Factor (BETA) Appears when Damping Type is set to Viscous.Sets the viscous mass factor. For more information, see the BETA parameter of the Samcef .AMO command.
Hysteretic Stiffness Factor (HYST) Appears when Damping Type is set to Hysteretic Stiffness Factor.Lets you define the damping factor. For more information, see the HYST parameter of the Samcef .AMO command.
Hysteretic Flexibility Factor (IHYST) Appears when Damping Type is set to Hysteretic Flexibility Factor.Lets you define the damping factor. For more information, see the IHYST parameter of the Samcef .AMO command.
Critical Damping
Set critical damping options to make the ratio per element lower than the critical value that you set.Note: Critical damping applies only to dynamic response analyses (linear transient and linear harmonic). It does not apply to modal analyses.
Viscous Damping Ratio by Element (VDA) Sets the viscous damping ratio using an expression, function, or constant. For more information, see the VDA parameter of the Samcef .AMO command.
Hysteretic Damping Ratio per Element (HDA) Sets the hysteretic (structural) damping ratio using an expression, function, or constant. For more information, see the HDA parameter of the Samcef .AMO command.
Default Thickness Sets the default thickness. For more information, see the THICK parameter of the Samcef .PHP command.
Non-Structural Mass Sets the non-structural mass. For more information, see the NSM parameter of the Samcef .AEL command.
Area Sets the rod section area.
