Define a time-varying force with a formula field

In this example, a time-varying force that is defined with a formula field is applied to a flat rectangular plate.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Force .

  2. In the Force dialog box, from the Type list, select Normal.

  3. Select the geometry or FE entity to which the force will be applied.

  4. Click and select from New FieldFormula .

  5. In the Formula Field dialog box, from the Independent list, select Time.

  6. In the Expressions box, enter an expression that defines how the force varies with respect to time. For example, suppose a force varies sinusoidally with an amplitude of 1000 N and a period of 4 sec. To create an expression for this force, enter:1000*sin(90[degrees]*ug_var(“time”)/1[sec])

  7. Click Accept Edit .The expression is added to the Expressions list.

  8. Click OK in all dialog boxes.
