Create a reference field
This procedure shows how to create a reference field from the Post Processing Navigator.
Note:
If you want to limit the spatial range of the independent domain, you must display the portion of the model for which you want to create the field, and hide the remainder of the model prior to beginning this procedure.
In the Post Processing Navigator with a post view displayed, right-click the post view node and choose Create Field from Result.
In the Create Field dialog box, in the Type group, select Reference Field.
In the Domain group, from the Independent Domain list, select the independent domain type.
(Optional) In the Selection group, from the Method list, select whether to use the entire model or the currently displayed portion of the model as the spatial range for the independent domain.
(Optional) In the Start and End Iteration group, specify the starting and ending times or frequencies. From the Start Load Case list, select the subcase that contains the starting time or frequency. From the Start Iteration list, select the starting time or frequency increment. From the End Load Case list, select the subcase that contains the ending time or frequency. From the End Iteration list, select the ending time or frequency increment.Note: The Start and End Iteration group is only available when the independent domain contains both spatial and non-spatial variables like Time, Cartesian or Frequency, Cartesian.
In the Domain group, select the dependent domain type from the Dependent Domain list. The options in the Dependent Domain list depend on what type of result is displayed in the post view. Which dependent domain you select depends on how you intend to later use the table field.
(Optional) For a spatial only independent domain such as Cartesian, in the Primary Domain group, from the Values Outside Table list, select whether the software assigns a lookup value to the field when the location of the lookup point lies outside the cloud of points defined by the tabular data. For a non-spatial and spatial independent domain such as Time, Cartesian, in the Primary Domain group, select whether to assign a lookup value to the field when the non-spatial lookup value lies outside the range defined by the tabular data. In the Secondary Domain group, from the Values Outside Table list, select whether to assign a lookup value to the field when the location of the lookup point lies outside the cloud of points defined by the tabular data. For more information on how the software behaves when both Values Outside Table lists are specified, see Lookup options for fields created from results.
Click OK.
