Define a general contact (Abaqus)
Define an all-inclusive self contact
Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object Type→General Contact .
In the General Contact dialog box, from the type list, select Automatic General Contact.
To define properties for the pairs of surfaces that may contact or interact during the analysis, in the Contact Properties group, select or create a General Contact Property modeling object. For more information, see Define contact properties within a general contact (Abaqus).
Click OK.
Define a face pairing
Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object Type→General Contact .
In the General Contact dialog box, from the type list, select Automatic Pairing.
In the Automatic Face Pair Creation group, click Face Pairs .
In the Create Automatic Face Pairs dialog box: (Optional) Specify a Face Pair Search Subset.Select a Grouping Option.Click Preview to preview the face pairs, and if necessary, modify the distance tolerance to generate more or fewer pairs. For more information, see Create Automatic Face Pairs dialog box.
Click OK to return to the General Contact dialog box.
To define properties for the pairs of surfaces that may contact or interact during the analysis, in the Contact Properties group, select or create a General Contact Property modeling object. For more information, see Define contact properties within a general contact (Abaqus).
(Optional) To associate the generated contact pairs with the automatic pair recipe, select the Associate to Automatic Pair Recipe check box.
Click OK.
Define surface inclusions
Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object Type→General Contact .
From the type list, select the type of surface inclusion to create.Surface Pair Contact Inclusion—Define the general contact domain by specifying the individual contact surface pairings. One surface in each pair must be an element-based surface or an analytical rigid surface. Self-Contact Surface Inclusion—Define self-contact for the selected surface. Surface to Default All-Inclusive Surface Contact Inclusion—Specify that contact should be enforced between the default all-inclusive, automatically generated surface and the selected surface, including self-contact in any overlap regions.
Select the surface or surface regions, or click Create Region to create new surface regions.
To define properties for the pairs of surfaces that may contact or interact during the analysis, in the Contact Properties group, select or create a General Contact Property modeling object. For more information, see Define contact properties within a general contact (Abaqus).
Click OK.
