Create a laminate spreadsheet report
This example shows how to create a laminate spreadsheet report in Excel. The spreadsheet report lists elements which have a ply margin of safety below 0. The list is sorted in descending order of the XY stress component.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the laminate post report node and choose Create Spreadsheet Report. The Spreadsheet Report dialog box opens.
(Optional) Change the name of the laminate spreadsheet report. The name is displayed in the Simulation Navigator as the node name for the laminate spreadsheet report node.
On the Input page, select one or both of the following check boxes:To compute ply stresses, strains, failure indices, strength ratios, and margins of safety from the FEM’s laminate physical properties and the structural solver shell stress resultants, select the Solver Shell Stress Resultants check box and, under Ply Stress Calculation Location, select the ply stress calculation locations. To compute ply failure indices, strength ratios, and margins of safety from the FEM’s laminate physical properties and the structural solver ply stresses and strains, select the Solver Ply Stresses and Strains check box.
On the Output page, select the shell stress resultants, ply stress and strain components, and strength analysis results that you are interested in.If you selected the Solver Shell Stress Resultants check box, in the Shell Stress Resultants group, select shell stress resultants. In the Ply Stresses and Strains group, select ply stress and strain components, and their enveloping rule.In the Strength Analysis group, select the strength analysis results and their enveloping rule. The strength analysis results are failure index, strength ratio, and margin of safety results.
On the Report Options page, in the Report Object group, create or select a laminate report object that defines the elements and plies for the report.
(Optional) In the Failure Theory Override 1 and Failure Theory Override 2 groups, specify up to two ply failure theories and interlaminar failure theories to generate additional results, which you can compare to the results from the failure theories you defined in the FEM.
Select the Enable Detailed Output check box to enable filter and sorting of laminate results.Form the Filter Type list, select Ply Margin of Safety. From the Threshold Type list, select Below Threshold. In the Threshold Value box, type 0.0.Clear the Using Absolute Values check box to allow values that are negative. From the Sort On list, select Stress XY.
Click OK.In the Simulation Navigator, the laminate spreadsheet report node is created under the laminate post report node. Laminate Post Report 1 Spreadsheet Report 1
Right-click the laminate spreadsheet report node and choose Export to Spreadsheet. The spreadsheet opens in Excel.
