Solver Parameters dialog box (Nastran)
Use the Solver Parameters dialog box to set options for the Simcenter Nastran or MSC Nastran solver. See The nastran Command for more information.
| Parameters | |
|---|---|
| License Type | For Simcenter Nastran, specifies the type of solver license you are using. |
| Solver Executable | Specifies the location of the executable for your solver. You can:Select the Use environment variable UGII_NX_NASTRAN or Use environment variable UGII_MSC_NASTRAN check box to have the software use the location of the executable as specified by the environment variable.By default, these variables are defined in the ugii_env.dat included with the installation. For Simcenter Nastran, this variable points to the Simcenter Nastran executable in the nx_nastran directory within this software's installation directory. With both the UGII_NX_NASTRAN and UGII_MSC_NASTRAN variables, you can customize them to point to different installations.Note: With the UGII_NX_NASTRAN and UGII_MSC_NASTRAN variables, you should ensure that they point to the appropriate executables. Do not use the nastran*w executables, such as nastranw.exe or nastranw64w.exe to launch Nastran. These files are intermediate files that stop running before a solve completes. You can also use the NASTRAN Solver Location options in the customer defaults to specify the default location of the Nastran executable.Use the User Specified box to manually specify the solver's directory path and executable file name. The software infers and stores the path to the file that you specify relative to the Simulation file. If the location of the file changes, the software uses the stored relative path information to try to locate the file. For more information, see Relative path support for external files, |
| Solver Version | Specifies the version of your solver to use. You can:Select the Use environment variable UGII_NX_NASTRAN_VERSION or Use environment variable UGII_MSC_NASTRAN_VERSION check box to have the software use the version of the solver specified by the environment variable. This variable should be consistent with the version pointed to by the UGII_NX_NASTRAN variable. By default, these variables are defined in the ugii_env.dat file included with the installation. You can also use the NASTRAN Solver Version options in the customer defaults to specify the default version of the Nastran executable. To override the UGII_ANSYS_VERSION variable and manually specify an executable, clear this check box and enter the version number in the User Specified box.Use the User Specified box to manually specify the solver's version number. |
| nastran Command Keywords | |
| Solution Monitor | Displays the Simcenter Nastran Solution Monitor after the input file has been submitted to the solver. See Solution Monitor for more information. |
| Solution Summary Tab for Legacy Monitor | When you are using a version earlier than NX Nastran 10, or when you are solving a SOL 601 or SOL 701 Advanced Nonlinear solution, a legacy version of the Solver Monitor is used, and this option enables the Solution Summary tab on the Solver Monitor. The Summary tab lists a summary of the solution. |
| memory | Sets the RAM allocated during the solve.Nastran allocates all specified memory to the solver during a solve, which could affect other processes you want to run simultaneously. You include the unit of measure with the value. For example, for 500 megabytes, enter 500Mb (no space between the value and the unit of measure). For 10 gigabytes, enter 10Gb. For a detailed description of how to specify the memory unit of measure, see The nastran Command. |
| old | Renames existing output files with an extension. If you clear this check box, the existing output files are overwritten. |
| scratch | Specifies what to do with data that is stored in temporary database files (located in the path specified by the sdirectory option). At the end of the run:yesFiles are deleted.noFiles are retained.miniA reduced-size database is created. |
| sdirectory | Sets the scratch directory path for the specified solution. If the scratch directory path is left blank, then Nastran writes to a pre-assigned location. This setting is saved with the .sim file. Click Browse to navigate to the scratch directory. |
| parallel | Sets the maximum number of cores to use for shared-memory parallel (SMP) processing. The default value is 0, which specifies no SMP processing. Increasing this value can help reduce the amount of time it takes to solve the model. For example, if you set parallel to 2, the parallel algorithms are used on two cores. This value should not be greater than the number of cores that the computer has.For more information about how parallel processing works, see the Simcenter Nastran Parallel Processing Guide. |
| dmparallel/mpi402 | The keyword dmparallel specifies the number of tasks for parallel processing (DMP) in SOLs 101, 103, 108, 111, 112, 200, and 401. The keyword mpi402 specifies the number of CPUs for parallel processing (DMP) in SOL 402. |
| umat | Lets you specify the location of the UMAT subroutine. The software infers and stores the path to the file that you specify relative to the Simulation file. If the location of the file changes, the software uses the stored relative path information to try to locate the file. For more information, see Relative path support for external files. |
| Additional Keywords | Sets any additional keywords for the nastran command or any system cells for the NASTRAN executive control statement. For more information, see nastran Command and NASTRAN Statement. |
| Solver Command Window | |
| Solver Command Window | Specifies the visibility of a window that displays solver command syntax on Windows platforms during the solve.HiddenHides the display of the solver syntax window.ShownDisplays the solver syntax window. |
