Manage component FEM loading

When you open or define an assembly FEM, all component FEMs are loaded into memory by default. When working with large assembly FEMs, you may want to close some component FEMs to improve performance and focus on specific areas of interest.

Close an open component FEM

To close a component FEM, in the Simulation Navigator, right-click the component FEM node and choose Close.

Caution:

Be sure to save any changes to the component FEM before closing it.

When you close a component FEM:

  • The component FEM is not displayed in the graphics window.

  • The component FEM file is not listed in the Simulation File View.

  • The component FEM node in the Simulation Navigator is displayed as inactive.

  • The assembly FEM structure is unaltered. CAD component mapping and connection elements are preserved.

Load a closed component FEM

To load a component FEM that has previously been closed, in the Simulation Navigator, right-click the component FEM node and choose Load.

How do I

Map assembly components to existing FEM files automatically

Map an assembly component to an existing FEM file

Map an assembly component to a new FEM file

Position a component or subassembly FEM using coordinate systems within an assembly FEM

Replace component FEMs

Ignore CAD component mapping

Remove component FEMs

Override component FEM properties
