Acoustic Chamber Mesh dialog box

Mesh Name
Mesh Name Lets you specify a name for the mesh.
Selection
Meshes/Element Faces Lets you select the 2D mesh, meshes, or element faces that define the structural mesh on the acoustic panel.Note: If you select individual elements or groups of elements, the selected elements must be connected.
Specify Plane Lets you specify a plane that is parallel to the 2D structural mesh.If you use the Infer Plane option, the software infers the location of the plane by computing the center of gravity and a local coordinate system using the principal component axis (the moment of inertia).Note: The plane's normal direction should point towards the source mesh.Click to have the software infer an appropriate plane.
Element Properties
Type Specifies the type of 3D elements to create.
Mesh Parameters
Element Size Specifies the target element size for the acoustic fluid meshes. To specify the element size as a function of frequency, click the DesignLogic list and select Function to use the SizeForAcoustics function. For more information, see Element size for acoustic analysis.
Automatic Element Size Examines the selected geometry and calculates an estimated element size.Note: The element size calculated by Automatic Element Size is an estimate based upon certain characteristics of the currently selected geometry. You should always carefully evaluate your model and use good engineering judgment when determining the element size, regardless of whether you accept the software’s estimate or specify a different size. This evaluation should consider both the unique features of your model's geometry and the requirements of your analysis. For more information, see Understanding the Automatic Element Size calculation.
Offset Method Specifies the method to use to offset the nodes to define the outer boundary of the acoustic mesh.Along Plane NormalOffsets the nodes along the plane's normal using the specified Offset Distance value.Along Node NormalOffsets the nodes along each node's normal using the specified Offset Distance value.
Offset Distance Lets you specify the distance to offset the outer boundary of the acoustic mesh from the specified plane. You can specify a distance value, or you can click Infer button to have the software compute a distance that is equal to the Number of Element Layers in Acoustic Chambers customer default * the specified Element Size for the acoustic mesh.
Chamber to Fill Controls whether the software creates one or two acoustic chamber meshes.BothCreates acoustic chamber meshes on both sides of the plane.TopCreates an acoustic chamber mesh on the top (positive) side of the plane.BottomCreates an acoustic chamber mesh on the bottom (negative) side of the plane.
Remesh Input Controls whether the software can modify the existing 2D structural mesh, if necessary.
Element Size Specifies the target element size for the acoustic fluid meshes. To specify the element size as a function of frequency, click the DesignLogic list and select Function to use the SizeForAcoustics function. For more information, see Element size for acoustic analysis.
Automatic Element Size Examines the selected geometry and calculates an estimated element size.
Destination Collector
Automatic Creation Select the Automatic Creation check box to have the software automatically create a new destination collector for the current mesh. If you select this option, the software creates a collector using the default physical properties and inherits the material properties of the idealized part.Note: If you did not use a midsurface to generate the 2D mesh, you must edit the automatically created mesh collector to specify a physical property table that includes thickness properties.Clear the Automatic Creation check box to choose an existing mesh collector from the Mesh Collector list.
Mesh Collector Lets you select an existing collector. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. For more information, see Mesh collectors.
Show Result Click Show Result to preview the mesh based on your current selections.
