ParaView output files
When you request output in ParaView format, the number and type of ParaView files that the software generates depends on the solver and the solution type.
In the file names:
I is the total number of processors.
J is the processor ID, starting from 0.
K is the flow enclosure ID, starting from 0.
M is the transient time step, starting from 0.
N is the particle tracking time step, starting from 0 for the parallel flow solver and from 1 for the serial flow solver.
SiteName is the name of the Particle Injection simulation object.
TrackingName is the name of the Flow Surface or Screen simulation object from which you request the reports.
| File name | Flow Solver | Solution type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| flow_element_IpeK_Ip_M.pvtu | Parallel | Steady state or transient | These files contain the elemental solution field for all processors at the output time M. For the steady state run, M=0. |
| flow_element_IpeK_IpJ_M.vtu | Parallel | Steady state or transient | These files contain the elemental solution field for each processor J at the output time M. For the steady state run, M=0. |

| SiteName_TrackingName_N.vtp | Serial | Particle tracking with requested particle impact or pass-through reports | These files contain the position coordinates of particles injected from the Particle Injection simulation object called SiteName that contacts the tracking surface called TrackingName at the particle tracking output time N. |
| SiteName_TrackingName_IpeK_Ip_N.pvtp | Parallel | Particle tracking with requested particle impact or pass-through reports | These files contain the position coordinates of particles injected from the Particle Injection simulation object called SiteName that contacts the tracking surface called TrackingName for all processors at the particle tracking output time N. |
| SiteName_TrackingName_IpeK_IpJ_N.vtp | Parallel | Particle tracking with requested particle impact or pass-through reports | These files contain the position coordinates of particles injected from the Particle Injection simulation object called SiteName that contacts the tracking surface called TrackingName for each processor J at the particle tracking output time N. |
Example:
For a simulation on 8 processors, a model with 3 flow enclosures generates 24 particle ParaView files for each particle tracking time step. One of the generated files has the following name: Particle_8pe1_8p4_20.vtp. This file contains particle coordinates from the second flow enclosure computed on the fifth processor for the twenty-first particle time step.
