Parallel Configuration Tool dialog box (Thermal/Flow/SST/ESC/Multiphysics)
| Computer List | |
|---|---|
| Computer list | Lists the names of the computers that you want to use for computing the flow analysis, the thermal analysis, or view factors in parallel. The following commands are available when you right-click the name of a computer.Modify lets you change the name of the computer.Add Computer lets you add a new computer to the computer list.Delete deletes the computer from the computer list. |
| Enable Parallel | |
| View Factors | Validates machines for performing view factor computations in parallel. |
| Solvers | Validates machines for running the parallel flow solver or the thermal solver in parallel. |
| Settings | |
| Displays the settings for each computer in the computer list in a tabular format. The table has three columns:Property****Value — Double-click the cell to modify the property value.Total (All) — Displays the total value of the property for all computers in the computer list. The following rows explain the meaning of the values for the available properties. | |
| Computer name | Displays the name of the selected computer. |
| No. processors for View Factors | Displays the number of processors for performing view factor computations in parallel. |
| No. processors for Solvers | Displays the number of processors for running the parallel flow solver or the thermal solver in parallel. |
| No. processors on Computer | Displays the number of available processors for the selected computer. |
| Status | Displays the validation status of the selected computer. If the value is anything other than Success, follow the instructions under Validation Output. |
| Validation Output | |
| Displays the instructions to help you troubleshoot why a computer is not ready for parallel processing. |
Menu options
| File | |
|---|---|
| New | Initializes the view factor computer list and the flow computer list. The computer lists only include the computer on which the Parallel Configuration Tool is running. This computer is the master computer. |
| Open | Opens an existing parallel configuration XML file and displays the computer lists for calculating view factors and flow analysis in parallel. |
| Save | Saves the current view factor computer list and flow computer list to the current parallel configuration XML file. |
| Save As | Saves the current view factor computer list and flow computer list to a parallel configuration XML file that you specify. |
| Exit | Exits the Parallel Configuration Tool. |
| Edit | |
| Modify | Changes the name of the selected computer. |
| Add Computer | Adds a new computer to the computer list. |
| Delete | Deletes the selected computer from the list. |
| Validation | |
| Auto | Validates computers as you add them to the computer lists or modify them on the lists. |
| Validate Now | Available when Auto is not selected.Validates computers that are in the computer lists. |
| Options → Check Graphics for Hemicube | Validates the graphical setup for computing view factors when you use the Hemicube rendering method. If you select On Screen Rendering on the Radiation Parameters page in the Solver Parameters dialog box, the Hemicube rendering method needs only one processor per computer because it uses the computer’s graphic card for computing view factors. |
