Supported fluid material properties
Fluid material properties listed in the following table are supported by the flow and thermal solvers in the Simcenter 3D Multiphysics, Thermal/Flow, Space Systems Thermal, and Electronic Systems Cooling solver environments except if noted differently.
| Material Property | SI Units | Variable With | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mass Density | kg/m³ | FrequencyTemperatureTemperature and pressure | RequiredMass density varies with frequency only for Simcenter 3D Acoustics BEM analyses. |
| Thermal Conductivity | W/m-K | TemperatureTemperature and pressure | Required |
| Thermal Expansion Coefficient | 1/K | Temperature | Ignored for duct modelingRequired for 3D buoyancy modeling when the following conditions are met:The buoyancy model is Boussinesq. You do not use the ideal gas law.Variable for a 3D liquid only |
| Dynamic Viscosity | N-sec/m² | TemperatureTemperature and pressure | Required |
| Specific Heat at Constant Pressure | J/kg-K | TemperatureTemperature and pressure | Required |
| Gas Constant | J/kg-K | N/A | Ignored for duct modelingRequired for 3D gasMust be null for a 3D liquidNot applicable to Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal analyses |
| Speed of sound | m/sec | Frequency | Only applicable to Simcenter Nastran and Simcenter 3D Acoustics BEM solutionsSpeed of sound varies with frequency only for Simcenter 3D Acoustics BEM analyses. |
