Create the custom XML file

Create a custom XML file using the same syntax as the SeamWeldConfiguration.xml file included with Simcenter 3D.

Create a custom weld simulation object

Create a custom simulation object for your welds.

For more details on creating custom simulation objects, see Using custom durability parameters.

Set the location of the custom XML file and simulation object

1. Choose File→Utilities→Customer Defaults.

2. Choose Simulation→Pre/Post→Simcenter 3D Specialist Durability, and in the Seam Welds tab, set Windows to the directory where you created the custom XML file.

3. Click Apply.

4. Choose Gateway→Parameter Library, and in the Locations tab, from the Site and User Parameter Library Format list, select Directory of Parameter Library Files.

5. In the User Parameter Library group, under Directory Name, set Windows to the folder you created for the custom library.

6. Click OK.

7. Restart Simcenter 3D.

Auto-detect custom seam welds

1. Make sure that the FEM is the work part and the displayed part, and choose Home tab→Universal Connections group→More list→Auto-detect Seam Welds .

2. In the Element Selection group, select the group of elements you want the software to search.

3. In the Weld Type Selection group, double-click your custom weld type.The custom weld type appears in the Selected Weld Types list.

4. Click OK.
