Polygonal Primitive dialog box (SST)

Polygonal primitive definition

Option Description
Element Type Lists the supported 2D element types.
Destination Collector
Mesh Collector Lets you select an existing collector. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. See Mesh collectors for more information.
Definition
Number of Triangles Lets you specify the number of triangles that constitute the polygonal primitive. Choose between 1 and 20 from the list.As the Number of Triangles (m) increases the number of points to be defined increases as m+2.
Point 1 / Point 2 / Point 3 Lets you select or create a point to define the first, second, and third points for the first triangle.Click Point Constructor to use the Point dialog box to create a new point. See Point dialog box for more information.Note: Point 1 is used as the vertex for all the triangles in the polygon. The direction of choice of points is important for correctly orienting the elements.
Point 4 Available only if the Number of Triangles is 2 or more. Lets you select or create a point to define as the third point for the second triangle.
Point 5 Available only if the Number of Triangles is 3 or more. Lets you select or create a point to define as the third point for the third triangle.
Top side points clockwise 1 to m Select the check box to reverse the direction of the surface normals of the 2D elements so that they point inward. The elements are oriented in a clockwise pattern with all triangles sharing Point 1 (1) as the common vertex.
