List and show element-associated data for a mesh

List the element-associated data

You can list all attribute data assigned to individual elements within a given mesh.

  1. With the FEM or the Simulation displayed, in the Simulation Navigator, expand the appropriate mesh collector node that contains the mesh you want.

  2. Right-click the mesh node and choose Element Associated DataList. For each element in the mesh that contains element-associated data, the Information window lists the element label, type, the name of the mesh, and the details of the associated data (such as the material orientation angle, mass, and so on).

Show element-associated data

For a given mesh, you can identify in the graphics window all elements that contain element-associated data.

  1. With the FEM or the Simulation displayed, in the Simulation Navigator, expand the appropriate mesh collector node that contains the mesh you want.

  2. Right-click the mesh node and choose Element Associated DataShow. Each element that contains element-associated data is identified in the graphics window. If the associated data is material orientation or 1D section orientation, the element is identified with the appropriate orientation arrow. The arrow corresponds to the X-axis of the material coordinate system. Other types of associated data (scalar values) are identified with a diamond symbol.Note: You can also view the material orientation using the Check Material Orientation command. For more information, see View material orientation graphically. For steps to remove element-associated data using the Clear command, see Remove element-associated data.
