Connect thermal streams automatically

This example shows how to chain thermal streams together. The stream that is created will automatically connect the nominal mass flow and inlet temperature. This example also shows how to specify an arbitrary end point when you select polygon edges to define the fluid path of the thermal stream.

  1. Click Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Load Type list →Thermal Stream .

  2. From the Type list, select One-Sided Stream on Edges.

  3. In the Name group, type a meaningful name.

  4. In the Path Selection group, from the Section Type list, select Polygon Edge.

  5. In the graphics window, select the polygon edges defining the stream. You can select just the first and last polygon edges and the software selects all connecting polygon edges in between.

  6. In Path Limits subgroup, select the Define End Point check box.

  7. In the graphics window, select the ending point for the stream.

  8. In the Auto-Connect Options group, select the Automatically Determine Mass Flow and Automatically Determine Inlet Temperature check boxes. In the Stream Conditions group, both Mass Flow and Inlet Temperature boxes disappear. During the solve, the thermal solver computes the values from streams that it detects are connected to this one.

  9. To complete the creation of the thermal stream, provide the fluid material, pressure, and heat transfer coefficient values.

  10. Click OK.
