Create protective layers

This example shows how to add thermal barrier coating on top of thermal elements in heat transfer analysis.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Protective Layers

  2. In the Region group, select one or more polygon faces that define the protective layer. You can apply protective layers on 3D element faces or 2D shell elements.

  3. (Optional) To include radiation effects, select the Radiation check box and define thermo-optical properties. You can select a previously created Thermo-Optical Properties modeling object, or click Create Modeling Object to create one.

  4. Specify the material and thickness for each layer. You can specify each layer with different material properties and thickness.

  5. Click OK.
