Flow convergence graphs

The Convergence window displays the following residual curves:

  • Velocity curves in the U, V, and W directions. Velocity information is obtained from the momentum equation.

  • Pressure curve. Pressure information is obtained from the mass equation.

  • Energy curve. Energy information is obtained from the energy equation and displays the enthalpy residual. This curve is displayed only in coupled analyses and for high speed flows.

  • Turbulent kinetic energy and turbulent dissipation rate curves. Turbulent energy and dissipation rate are obtained from the turbulence two-equation model. This curve is displayed only when you use the κ-ε, κ-ω, or SST turbulence models.

  • Tracer fluid or mixture concentration curves. Fluid and mixture information is obtained from the scalar equations. They are displayed only when you define tracer fluids or mixtures in your model.

Note:

Spikes in the convergence graph indicate an automatic time step solution because of a solution divergence. If the spikes are present, verify your mesh quality and change the time step.
