VATV Sets

The Vibro-acoustic transfer vectors (VATVs) let you efficiently compute vibro-acoustic pressure due to aerodynamic or acoustic loads on flexible structures in the context of two-way (strong) coupled vibro-acoustic problems. VATVs contain matrices that link the normal force on a structural node of a flexible structure with the acoustic pressure on a microphone node. The VATVs are independent of the loading and you can reuse them for various loads in multiple vibro-acoustic solutions as long the structure, acoustic fluid, and the microphone positions remain the same.

To create a VATV response, the solver computes pressures at specified microphones for the frequencies that you select.

VATV responses above or below the vibro-acoustic excitation frequency range are not extrapolated or computed.

To use a VATV in your vibro-acoustic analysis, do the following:

  1. Request the software to compute the VATV using a SOL 108 Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector or SOL 111 Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector solution.

  2. In a FEM or assembly FEM file, change the structural, fluid, and microphone meshes to a VATV set.

  3. Use the computed VATV matrices in a SOL 108 Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector Response solution with either a deterministic solution step (for example, frequency response), where the same input always produces the same output, or a stochastic solution step (for example, random).
