Box Primitive dialog box (SST)
Common options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Element Type | Lists the supported 2D element types. |
| Destination Collector | |
| Mesh Collector | Lets you select an existing collector. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. See Mesh collectors for more information. |
| Definition | |
| By | Controls the definition method:Parameters: Lets you define the box by assigning values to geometric descriptors in relation to the coordinate system you specify.Points: Lets you define the box by locating points in space in terms of 3D coordinates. |
| Mesh Density | |
| Along X | Defines the number of elements along the edge defined by the X-axis. The software meshes the faces of the defined box in the following order:Face parallel to and farthest from the X-Y plane.Face on and nearest to the X-Z plane.Face parallel to and farthest from the Y-Z plane.Face parallel to and farthest from the X-Z plane.Face on and nearest to the Y-Z plane.Face on and nearest to the X-Y plane. |
| Along Y | Defines the number of elements along the edge defined by the Y-axis. |
| Along Z | Defines the number of elements along the edge defined by the Z-axis. |
| Top side faces inward | Select the check box to reverse the direction of the surface normals of the 2D elements so that they point inward. |

| Coordinate System | Lets you create or select a coordinate system. The software uses the origin of the coordinate system as the origin of the box primitive.See CSYS dialog box for more information. |
| Minimum X | Defines the starting position for the box primitive along the X-axis as a distance measured from the origin of the specified Coordinate System. |
| Maximum X | Defines the terminating position for the box primitive along the X-axis as a distance measured from the origin of the specified Coordinate System. |
| Minimum Y | Defines the starting position for the box primitive along the Y-axis as a distance measured from the origin of the specified Coordinate System. |
| Maximum Y | Defines the terminating position for the box primitive along the Y-axis as a distance measured from the origin of the specified Coordinate System. |
| Height | Defines the total height of the box as a distance from the origin of the specified Coordinate System along the Z-axis. The base of the box is always at the X-Y plane as shown in the figure below. |
| Parameter | Definition |

Box primitive defined by points
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Definition | |
| Origin | Lets you select or create a point to define as the origin for the box.Click Point Constructor to use the Point dialog box to create a new point. See Point dialog box for more information. |
| X extent | Lets you select or create a point to orient the X-axis and define the location of the farthest box face from the Origin along the X-axis. |
| Y extent | Lets you select or create a point to orient the Y-axis and define the location of the farthest box face from the Origin along the Y-axis.Note: For clarity, select or create the point orthogonal to the X-axis orientation. If point is not orthogonally positioned then it is projected to a location on the plane of Origin that is perpendicular to the line between Origin and X extent. |
| Z extent | Lets you select or create a point to orient the Z-axis and define the location of the farthest box face from the Origin along the Z-axis.Note: For clarity, select or create the point at a location orthogonal to the X-Y plane at the Origin. If point is not orthogonally positioned, then the software projects the point onto a plane that is parallel to the X-Y plane passing through Z extent. |
