Convection dialog box (Nastran)

Use the Convection dialog box to apply convection constraints to FE entities or geometry.

Destination Folder
Constraint Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Model Objects
Group Reference Lets you apply the constraint to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the geometry or FE entities on which the constraint will be applied. Use the Excluded options to remove individual entities from your selection.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Control Point
Select Object (Simcenter Nastran and MSC Nastran only)Lets you select the control point for the convection. The temperature at the node is used to multiply the convection terms. For more information, see CONV in the Simcenter Nastran Quick Reference Guide.
Properties
Ambient Temperature Specifies the value of the temperature surrounding the selected geometry. For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Convection Coefficient Specifies the value of the convection coefficient for the selected geometry.
Card Name Displays the name of the solver card for the constraint.
