Equivalent Radiated Power scenario
Equivalent Radiated Power (ERP) plots show approximately how much noise radiates from a vibrating surface. Use ERP results for system components such as a vibrating engine, gearbox, and so on.
You can use the Equivalent Radiated Power scenario in Simcenter Nastran FEM acoustics or Simcenter 3D Noise and Vibration ATV response solutions.
In FEM acoustics, if you need to analyze an entire system, such as a vehicle, use panel or grid contribution results.
For more information about ERP and calculating ERP, see Requesting equivalent radiated power (ERP) output.
The Equivalent Radiated Power scenario supports the visualization of:
ERP data through XY plots. In FEM acoustics, when the data is of type SORT1, for example Equivalent Radiated Power Panel Contribution - SORT1, the software converts it to SORT2 data.
Element ERP data through a contour plot.
Mean velocity data through XY plots in FEM acoustics. The software computes the mean velocity based on the ERP density and the ERP coefficient (corresponding scale factor). When the data is of type SORT1, for example Mean Velocity - SORT1, the software converts it to SORT2 data.
| Equivalent Radiated Power per panel | Element Equivalent Radiated Power | Mean Velocity |
|---|
To use the Equivalent Radiated Power scenario:
In FEM acoustics, create ERP output requests, where you select frequencies and panels for ERP.
In an ATV response solution, request ERP and element ERP output, define the speed of sound and material density in the ATV Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests modeling object, and define panel simulation objects.
Parameters
The following table lists the parameters available for defining Equivalent Radiated Power post-processing scenario in an ATV response solution. They appear in the Parameters node of the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator.
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Select Top Contributors | Lets you plot a selected number of highest contributors over the complete frequency range or over a defined frequency range from all available modes or panels. You can use this to find the modes or panels that are the highest contributors in a given frequency range. |
| Number of Contributors | Available when the Select Top Contributors check box is selected.Sets the number of the highest contributors that you want to display. |
| Frequency Range | Available when the Select Top Contributors check box is selected.Displays the contributions in the specified range. |
| From / To | Available when the Frequency check box is selected.Sets the low and high frequency range in the selected units. |
| Partial Sum Contribution | Displays a single plot that contains the partial sum from the selected modes or panels. |
| Include Individual Contributions | Available when the Partial Sum Contribution check box is selected.Displays the plots for the individual modes or panels along with the plot containing the partial sum from these selected modes or panels. |
