Mean velocity flow mapping in an acoustic solution

You can include mean fluid flow data in your acoustic simulation. The fluid flow data must exist in an external HDF5 formatted file (*.sc_h5 file).

This capability is supported by the SOL 108 Direct Frequency Response solution with the FEM Adaptive Order (FEMAO) method.

The following are mean fluid flow data requirements:

  • The mean flow data can be computed with a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solver such as Simcenter STAR-CCM+, or it can be computed using a Potential Flow solver such as the one available with Simcenter 3D Pre/Post.

  • If the flow results are from a CFD analysis they must be spatially mapped from the CFD mesh to the acoustics mesh.

  • The mean flow data is translated to the HDF5 schema supported by Simcenter 3D and Simcenter Nastran.

For more information on steady state velocity in Mean Flow Mapping see Steady state fluid velocity in an acoustic solution workflow.

For more information on Potential Flow in FEMAO convected flow see FEMAO convected flow workflow.
