Import a Universal file into Pre/Post

  1. Open a part or FEM file.

  2. Choose File→Import→Simulation.

  3. In the Import dialog box, select I-deas UNV from the solver list.

  4. In the Import Simulation dialog box, enter or browse to the input file.

  5. (Optional) Click Advanced Options and enter a new FEM file name. Note: Pre/Post assigns a default name if you do not specify one.

  6. In the Unv Import Options dialog box, select the FE model to import from the Available FEMs list.Information about the FEM is displayed in the Model Information list.Note: A universal file may contain more than one FE model.

  7. Click OK.The new FEM file opens. The solver language is set to I-deas UNV. An Information window opens, and a log file is written to the location listed in this window. The window and log file list details about the materials, physical properties, elements, and nodes created in Pre/Post.
