Boundary conditions > Solver sets > DOF sets
Create a DOF set
Make the Simulation file the work part.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Solver Sets container and choose New → DOF Set.
In the graphics window, select the nodes to include in the DOF set. You can select individual nodes or select multiple nodes with a rectangle or lasso selection option. You can also select multiple nodes using smart-selection options on the Method list on the Top Border bar, such as Related Nodes.
On Degrees of Freedom tab, select the check box next to each degree of freedom you want to make active. For example, to make the X direction active, select the DOF1 check box.
Enter a name for the new DOF set.
Click OK create the degree of freedom set.Arrow graphics indicate the active degrees of freedom for the nodes in a DOF set. In the graphic, for the two nodes in the DOF set, the RY (DOF5) direction is inactive and all other directions are active. DOF set defined at nodes
Note:
The DOF Set Manager dialog box contains all commands related to DOF sets. To open the DOF Set Manager dialog box, right-click the DOF Sets container in the Simulation Navigator and choose Manage.
Specifying the active degrees of freedom for specific nodes in the degree of freedom set
Follow steps 1-3 in the above procedure.
Expand the Listing group.
Under Modify, click Cells or Rows. If you chose Cells, click the cells that correspond to the degree of freedom that you want to make active. Active DOFs are marked with (green check mark). For example, to make the X, Y, Z, RX, and RZ directions active for nodes 5 and 6 and leave the RY direction inactive, click the DOF1, DOF2, DOF3, DOF4, and DOF6 cells for each node. Leave the inactive degrees of freedom set to . In this example, DOF5 is inactive for nodes 5 and 6.For both Cells and Rows, you can right-click a row and choose the appropriate selection option. For example, to set DOF2 to active for all selected rows, choose Set Selected DOF2. Tip: You can sort the rows by active or inactive DOFs by clicking on the column heading for a particular DOF. For example, you can sort the list of nodes to see all nodes with DOF1 set to at the top of the list.
Enter a name for the new DOF set.
Click OK to create the new DOF set.
