Convection Coupling options

Name
Name Lets you specify a name for the simulation object.Description opens an editor that lets you type a description for the constraint.
Destination Folder
Simulation Object Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Convecting Region
Group Reference Lets you select a group for the convecting region.For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the convective set of elements.Element Selection Filtering lets you limit your element selection to the FE entity you select from the Filter Type list.0D Elements, 1D Elements, or 2D Elements lets you select only elements of that order.Element Edges lets you select 1D elements, the edges of 2D, or 3D elements.Element Faces lets you select 2D elements or the faces of 3D elements.Note: You must select Element from the main selection Type Filter list to use the Element Selection Filtering options.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters.For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Fluid Ducts
Group Reference Lets you select a group for the fluid ducts.For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the fluid duct set of elements.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters.For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Magnitude
Heat Transfer Coefficient Sets a value for the heat transfer coefficient.For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Apply Correction Factors Applies a local correction to the heat transfer coefficient using the specified Duct Convection Correction modeling object. Choose a modeling object from the Duct Convection Correction list or click Create Modeling Object to create a new one.
Additional Parameters
Coupling Resolution Specifies the accuracy of the coupling. The software subdivides primary elements according to the Coupling Resolution specification before it determines conductances. One to OneCalculates a single conductance from each primary element to the nearest secondary element.Coarse through FinestSubdivides each primary element into a progressively larger number of sub-elements.Although it may seem that the finer subdivision level would produce more accurate results, this is not always the case.
Only Connect Overlapping Elements Connects only overlapping elements between the convecting region and the fluid ducts.If you clear this check box, the thermal solver connects each convecting region sub-element to the closest fluid duct element.
Overlap Projection Direction Appears when Only Connect Overlapping Elements is selected.Specifies whether the thermal solver uses the normal of the primary or secondary elements to calculate the area of overlap.Primary element with subdivisionSecondary elementElement normalOverlapping areaPrimary Element NormalsUses the element normal from the convecting region to find overlapping elements (1).Secondary Element NormalsUses the element normal from the fluid ducts to find overlapping elements (2).Note: The overlapping area is always computed from the convecting region.
