Define fluid-structure interface modeling parameters

You can define the interface between the fluid and the structure.

  1. Choose Home tab → Properties group → Modeling Objects .Alternatively, click Create Modeling Object in the Bulk Data page of the vibro-acoustic Solution dialog box.

  2. In the Modeling Objects Manager dialog box, from the Type list, select Fluid-Structure Interface Modeling Parameters.

  3. Click Create.

  4. In the Fluid-Structure Interface Modeling Parameters dialog box, from the Type of Coupling (CTYPE) list, select the appropriate type of coupling.

  5. In the Angular Tolerance (OVLPANG) box, enter the overlapping angular tolerance value and select the units from the list.Nastran takes the absolute value of the overlapping angle between the normals of the structure and the fluid face; therefore, this value must be between 0 and 90.

  6. Define the Fluid Interface (FSET) by fluid nodes, elements, physical properties, or all nodes of a fluid element face. From the Fluid Interface Entities list:Select Nodes to specify either the fluid nodes to include in the interface or the fluid nodes to remove from the interface. You can specify the fluid nodes either by group reference or by directly selecting the object.By selecting existing group(s):In the Node Selection group, select the Group Reference check box.See Create and manage groups for more details.By selecting the object:In the Node Selection group, click Select Object and select the geometry or FE entity to which the parameters are to be applied.Select Elements to specify all the fluid elements for the interface, the fluid elements to include in the interface, or the fluid elements to remove from the interface.Select Physical Properties to specify either the acoustic fluid properties to include in the interface or the acoustic fluid properties to remove from the interface.Click to define the acoustic fluid properties.Select the existing fluid property or create a new acoustic fluid property.See Physical properties and element attributes and Create a material for more details.Select Nodes of Element Face to specify all nodes associated to a fluid element face to include in the interface or to remove from the interface. You can specify the fluid element face either by group reference or by directly selecting the object.By selecting existing group(s):In the Fluid Element Face Selection group, select the Group Reference check box.See Create and manage groups for more details.By selecting the object:In the Fluid Element Face Selection group, click Select Fluid Element Face and select the geometry or FE entity to which the parameters are to be applied.

  7. Define the Structural Interface (SSET) by fluid nodes, elements, or physical properties.

  8. Click OK to close the Fluid-Structure Interface Modeling Parameters dialog box.The defined fluid-structure interface modeling parameter appears in the Selection group table of the Modeling Objects Manager dialog box.

  9. (Optional) Repeat steps 2-8 to define additional fluid-structure interface modeling parameters.

  10. Click Close to complete the modeling parameter definition and close the Modeling Objects Manager dialog box.

Add the defined fluid-structure interface modeling parameters to the solution

  1. Right-click an active vibro-acoustic solution and choose Edit.

  2. In the Solution dialog box, click the Bulk Data page, from the Fluid-Structure Interface Modeling Parameters list, select the appropriate fluid-structure interface modeling parameter.

  3. Click OK to close the Solution dialog box.
