| Physical Property Table | |
|---|---|
| Name | Sets the name of the physical property table. |
| Label | Sets a unique numeric identifier for the physical property table. The number is incremented automatically for the next physical property you create. |
| Properties | |
| Material | Specifies a material for the associated elements.Select a material from the list of materials assigned to the model, or click Choose material to define a new material. |
| Orientation Definition | Specifies the definition of the material orientation. User DefinedLets you use the standard coordinate system tools to define the material orientation based on a local coordinate system.VectorLets you use vectors to define the material orientation. |
| The following options appear when Orientation Definition is set to User Defined. | |
| Orientation Type | Specifies the type of coordinate system to define the material orientation. |
| Local | Appears when Orientation Type is not set to Absolute.Lets you use the standard coordinate system tools to define the material orientation based on a local coordinate system. For more information about the CSYS dialog box, see CSYS dialog box. |
| The following options appear when Orientation Definition is set to Vector. | |
| Specify Vector | Lets you specify the first of the two nonparallel vectors that will be used to orient the material. |
| Second Direction Method | You cannot change this value. |
| Specify Vector | Lets you specify the second of the two nonparallel vectors that will be used to orient the material. |
| Proportional Damping | |
|---|---|
| In proportional damping, the damping matrix is assumed to be proportional to the mass and stiffness matrices. | |
| Damping Type | Specifies a damping type. No DampingNo damping.ViscousLets you define a viscous (or non-modal) damping.Hysteretic Stiffness FactorLets you define hysteretic (or structural) damping based a given stiffness factor.Hysteretic Flexibility FactorLets you define hysteretic (or structural) damping based a given flexibility factor. For more information on damping, see Damping (Simcenter Samcef). |
| Viscous Stiffness Factor (ALPHA) | Appears when Damping Type is set to Viscous.Sets the viscous stiffness factor. To define the stiffness factor as a function of time or frequency, click and choose New Field→Table. After you create the table field, you can set the scale factor by clicking Edit →Scale Factor. Note: Only nonlinear analysis supports Viscous Stiffness Factor (ALPHA) as a function of time. For a other analyses, you must set the Viscous Stiffness Factor (ALPHA) to a constant. Otherwise, a warning appears in the Information window when you attempt to solve, and the time dependency is not exported. When you set the viscous stiffness factor, you must also do one of the following:Select the Geometric Nonlinearities Not Taken Into Account (.SAM NLIS) check box on the Analysis page in the Solution dialog box for Nonlinear Analysis solutions.Set Non-linearities (NLIS) to Ignored on the Mesh Associated Data dialog box.Otherwise, when you export, a warning message is issued that stiffness damping (.AMO ALPHA) is not taken into account. For more information, see the ALPHA parameter of the Samcef .AMO command. |
| Viscous Mass Factor (BETA) | Appears when Damping Type is set to Viscous.Sets the viscous mass factor. For more information, see the BETA parameter of the Samcef .AMO command. |
| Hysteretic Stiffness Factor (HYST) | Appears when Damping Type is set to Hysteretic Stiffness Factor.Sets the hysteretic stiffness factor. For more information, see the HYST parameter of the Samcef .AMO command. |
| Hysteretic Flexibility Factor (IHYST) | Appears when Damping Type is set to Hysteretic Flexibility Factor.Sets the hysteretic flexibility factor. For more information, see the IHYST parameter of the Samcef .AMO command. |
| Critical Damping | |
| Set critical damping options to make the ratio per element lower than the critical value that you set.Note: Critical damping applies only to dynamic response analyses (linear transient and linear harmonic). It does not apply to modal analyses. | |
| Viscous Damping Ratio by Element (VDA) | Sets the viscous damping ratio using an expression, function, or constant. For more information, see the VDA parameter of the Samcef .AMO command. |
| Hysteretic Damping Ratio per Element (HDA) | Sets the hysteretic (structural) damping ratio using an expression, function, or constant. For more information, see the VDA parameter of the Samcef .AMO command. |
