Generate hotspots from hotspot recipes

Generate hotspots in a post view

After you create a post view, all the hotspot recipes that apply to the results data in the post view appear in the Post Processing Navigator under the Hotspot Recipes node of the post view. You resolve the hotspot recipes to display the hotspots.

The hotspots you resolve remain only if the post view exists, contains the same type of results, and you do not edit the hotspot recipe. If you delete or change the results in the post view or edit the hotspot recipe, the software removes the hotspots.

  1. Display a post view. Hotspot recipes that match the results appear in the Post Processing Navigator.

  2. In the Post Processing Navigator, in the Hotspot Recipe node, right-click a hotspot recipe, and choose Resolve. Hotspots appear. The hotspot name is the name includes the ID of the most critical entity.

  3. (Optional) To view only the hotspot, right-click the hotspot and choose Show or Show Only.

  4. (Optional) To hide the hotspot, right-click the hotspot and choose Hide.

Save hotspots to groups

To keep the generated hotspots, save them to groups. You can save all the entities in the hotspot to a group or only the most critical entity that meets the search criteria, the seed. You can use the group to control results visibility in post-processing or to identify areas requiring further refinement in pre-processing.

Group composed of all entities Group composed of only the critical entity (seed)
  • In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click a hotspot, and choose Create Group or Create Group of Seed.

The software creates a group with the same name as the hotspot. It appears in the Groups node of the Post Processing Navigator.

Display information about the hotspots

  • In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the hotspot recipe or hotspot, and choose Information.

The Information window lists the name of the hotspot, the number of entities, and its units. It also lists the most critical entity that met the threshold value (the threshold node) and its value. Finally, it lists each of the entities in the hotspot.
