Flow Boundary Condition dialog box – Bursting Membrane options
| Name | |
|---|---|
| Name | Sets a name for the simulation object.Description opens an editor that lets you type a description for the boundary condition. |
| Destination Folder | |
| Simulation Object Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Region | |
| Group Reference | Applies the bursting membrane boundary condition to the selected group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select the faces or elements on the flow surface that defines the bursting membrane region.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object. The software does not apply the simulation object to the excluded elements.Note: The Element Selection Filtering options are available when the Type Filter list on the Top Border bar is set to Elements. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Parameters | |
| Operating Criteria | Specifies when the membrane bursts. The software treats the selected region as a flow surface until the membrane bursts. When the membrane bursts, the software treats the selected region as an opening where the fluid flows freely from one side to the other.Pressure DifferenceBursts the membrane when the maximum static pressure difference between the two sides of the selected region reaches the value you specify in the Differential Pressure to Burst box.TimeBursts the membrane when the solve time reaches the time you specify in the Bursting Time box. |
| High Pressure Side | Available when Operating Criteria is set to Pressure Difference.Specifies the high pressure side of the selected region.Top or BottomAssigns the high pressure side as either top or bottom. The membrane bursts when the high pressure side reaches a static pressure that is higher than the static pressure of the other side by the value specified in the Differential Pressure to Burst box.Top and BottomAssumes that the high pressure side can be either of the two sides. The membrane bursts when the pressure difference between the two sides reaches the value specified in the Differential Pressure to Burst box regardless of which side is the high pressure side.Note: The top side of a shell has the normal pointing outward. |
