Modeling multiple fluids
The flow solver supports models with different fluids in separate domains, called flow enclosures. Each enclosure is a separate group of three-dimensional elements that form a separate fluid domain from the remaining geometry. You can use any number of different fluids in the same model, provided that:
Each fluid is contained in a separate flow enclosure.
There is no mixing or exchange between the different fluids.
The flow solver solves governing equations separately for each flow enclosure.
The solver supports perfect gas mixtures and miscible species. In both cases, all the meshing criteria apply.
For a coupled thermal-flow analysis, heat may be exchanged between different fluids through convection on a flow surface that separates the two fluids, by thermal couplings, or by conduction between two separate flow surfaces.
Different fluid material properties are defined on the 3D elements in the separate polygon bodies. By default, all the different fluids entering the different polygon bodies are at the same ambient pressure and temperature. To specify these conditions differently for the different fluids, define a Flow Boundary Condition simulation object where the fluid enters the domain.
All the solver controls and options apply uniformly to all the polygon bodies containing different fluids. For example, it is not possible to use a different viscosity model for different fluids.
