Define modal contribution parameters

In a Simcenter Nastran acoustic or vibro-acoustic analysis, a Modal Contribution output request lets you define modal contribution parameters.

  1. Choose Home tab → Properties group → Modeling Objects .Alternatively, click Create Modeling Object in the Case Control page of the acoustic or vibro-acoustic Solution dialog box.The Modeling Objects Manager dialog box appears.

  2. From the Type list, choose Acoustic Output Requests or Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests.

  3. Click Create. The Acoustic Output Requests or Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests dialog box appears.

  4. Enter a name and label, or use the defaults.

  5. Select the Modal Contribution page.

  6. (Optional) In the Description box, enter a brief description for the modal contribution. Click  to open a text editor where you can enter a longer description.

  7. Select the Enable MODCON Request check box.

  8. Define the structural modes, fluid modes, and frequencies. You can do this either by selecting all modes or frequencies, or by specifying them manually. When specifying the structural modes, fluid modes and frequencies manually:For structural and fluid modes, enter the number of top structural or fluid modes for contribution. For frequencies, choose the frequency unit and then enter the frequency values in the Frequencies box.

  9. Define the entities for contributions by specifying response contribution sets. In the Entity Selection group, click the Create Response Contribution Sets button. The Modeling Objects Manager dialog box appears.

  10. Click Create to define a new response contribution set.The Response Contribution Set dialog box appears.

  11. You can define response contribution set in two ways, either by selecting group reference or by manual selection.By manual selection:Click .Using the cursor, select the geometry or FE entities on the model object.By referencing a group:Select the Group Reference check box.Click  to create a new group.See Create and manage groups.Select a filter type. You can also select existing groups from the table.Note: To request pressure modal contribution on microphones, include microphone nodes in the entity selection.

  12. Continue to define the output request parameters as needed.

  13. Before you solve the model, in the Solution dialog box, make sure this output requests definition is selected. You can also edit the output request at any time before you solve.
