Element Create dialog box

Element Family
Element Family Specifies the element family, such as 2D (shell or plate).
Element Properties
Type Specifies the type of element to create. To specify an alternative formulation of an Abaqus element, such as a hybrid, click Edit Mesh Associated Data .
Edit Mesh Associated Data Appears when you select an element type that requires the definition of additional properties.Opens the Mesh Associated Data dialog box where you can define solver-specific properties for the elements. The software applies these properties uniformly to all the elements in the mesh. For more information, see Mesh-associated data.
Destination Collector
Automatic Creation Controls the automatic creation of a new mesh collector.Select Automatic Creation to have the software automatically create a new destination collector for the current mesh. If you select this option, the software creates a collector using the default physical properties. The mesh inherits the material properties of the idealized part.Clear the Automatic Creation check box to choose an existing mesh collector from the Mesh Collector list.
Mesh Collector Lets you select an existing collector or create a new one. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. See Mesh collectors for more information.
Nodes or Points
Create Chain of Elements Available when you select 1D from the Element Family list.Select this check box to use the second node or point that you select to define an element as the first node or point to define the next element. This allows you to create multiple 1D elements more efficiently Note: This option is not available when you create Nastran RSPLINE 1D elements.
Select Nodes or Points Lets you select the nodes or points to use to create the element. The order in which you select the nodes (or points) determines the element’s connectivity.
Node Labels Lets you add nodes to the selection.Use a space or comma to separate your entries.Use a colon or a dash to add a range of node labels. For example, enter 1:10 or 1-10 to add all the node labels from 1 to 10.Use colons to add an incremented range of node labels. For example, enter:1:9:2 to add node labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.1:10:2 to add node labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10.10:1:-2 to add node labels 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.Press enter or click Select to add your entries. To edit your selection, click Edit Node Selection .
Destination Mesh
Destination Mesh Controls the mesh in the Simulation Navigator into which the software places the new elements.Choose Create New to create a new mesh node on the Simulation Navigator. The software places the new elements into that new node.Choose Add to Existing to place the new elements into an existing mesh node on the Simulation Navigator.
Label
Element Label Specifies the unique numeric identifier for the next element.
Mesh Properties
Export Mesh to Solver Available when Element Family is set to 2D.Controls whether the software includes the 2D mesh data in your solver input file when you export or solve the model. If you plan to use this 2D mesh as only a seed mesh for a 3D mesh, you should clear this check box.
