Plot a Campbell diagram

You can plot a Campbell diagram from the Post Processing Navigator or from the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator.

Plot a Campbell diagram from the Post Processing Navigator

You must have solved a rotor dynamics solution. This procedure shows you how to create a Campbell diagram in the Post Processing Navigator. To use the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, see the next procedure.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, expand the solution node→StructuralGraphs.

  2. Select the first EigenFrequency mode, press and hold Shift, and select the tenth EigenFrequency mode.

  3. Press and hold Ctrl and select 1P_Line-Fixed for a fixed reference frame or 2P_Line-Rotating for a rotating reference frame, depending on the type of results you chose to compute in the rotor dynamics solution parameters.

  4. Right-click the selection and choose Plot.

  5. In the Viewport prompt, click Select Viewport by Cursor and click the graphics window to plot the diagram in the graphics window, or click Create New Window to plot the diagram in a separate window.

  6. To change the rotor speed in the X-axis to cycles per second or another unit, double-click the X-axis label Rot. Speed(units).

  7. In the X-axis Options dialog box, click the Display Units tab.

  8. From the System of Unit list, select Custom Units, and from the Rotational Speed list, select the units you prefer.

  9. Click OK.

Plot a Campbell diagram from the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator

You must have solved a rotor dynamics solution. This procedure shows you how to create a Campbell diagram in the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator. To use the Post Processing Navigator, see the previous procedure.

  1. In the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, right-click the Data Sources node and choose New Data Source from Navigator.

  2. When the Define Data Source dialog box opens, from the Simulation Navigator, under the Results node for the solved solution, select the results.

  3. Click OK.The Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator opens, and the results you selected appear under the Data Sources node.

  4. Under the Data Sources node, right-click the results you just added and choose PlotRotor Dynamics Complex Modal AnalysisCampbell Diagram.

  5. If the Viewport prompt appears, click Select Viewport by Cursor and click the graphics window to plot the diagram in the graphics window, or click Create New Window to plot the diagram in a separate window.

  6. To add additional modes to the Campbell diagram, under the viewport for your results, expand the Selection node and click Mode.

  7. In the Mode panel, press Ctrl, select the modes you want to add, and click Apply changes .

  8. To change the rotor speed in the X-axis to cycles per second or another unit, double-click the X-axis label Rotational Speed(units).

  9. In the X-axis Options dialog box, click the Display Units tab.

  10. From the System of Unit list, select Custom Units, and from the Rotational Speed list, select the units you prefer.

  11. Click OK.
