| Split Method | |
| Split By | Controls the criteria the software uses to determine how to divide an element. The options available in the Based on list depend on the option you select from the Type list.Sub Element Number subdivides elements to the specified number of smaller elements.Sub Element Length subdivides elements into smaller elements based on a length value you specify. |
| Number of Sub Elements | If you select Sub Element Number from the Split By list, lets you specify the number of smaller elements into which to divide the selected 1D elements. |
| Length of Sub Elements | If you select Sub Element Length from the Split By list, lets you specify the desired length of the smaller elements into which to divide the selected 1D elements. The software uses the specified length as a guide to subdivide the element into small elements of equal length. However, in the exact length of the smaller elements may not exactly match the length you specify. For example, if the length of the element to be split is 14mm, and you specify a length of 3mm, the software splits the element into 5 smaller elements (14/3 = 4.67), each with a length of 2.8mm (14/5 = 2.8). If you specified a length of 6mm, the software splits the element into 2 smaller elements (14/6 = 2.33), each with a length of 7mm (14/2 = 7). |
