Restart Controls (RESCONTROL) dialog box (ANSYS)

Properties
Description Lets you specify an optional description for the modeling object.
RESCONTROL Parameters
Command action (Action) Specifies the action that the command takes.(DEFINE) Specify how frequently restart files are writtenLets you specify the frequency with which ANSYS writes the .Xnn restart files. In general, you should select this option in linear perturbation analyses when you restart a modal analysis from an initial nonlinear analysis.(FILE_SUMMARY) Print substep and load step information for allPrints the substep and load step information for all .Xnn restart files for the current solution in the current directory. If you select this option, ANSYS ignores all other options in this dialog box.(STATUS) List the current statusLists the current status of the restart.(NORESTART) Clean up some of the restart filesPrevents ANSYS from creating restart files for distributed ANSYS solutions only. If you select this option in shared-memory parallel ANSYS solutions, the software removes most of the restart files in the working directory. This option can be helpful for cleaning up files on remote or host processors.(LINEAR) Same as Define but for linear staticLets you specify the frequency with which ANSYS writes the .Xnn restart files. In general, you should select this option in linear perturbation analyses when you restart a modal analysis from an initial linear statics analysis.
How restart files are written for specified load steps (l.dstep) Specifies how ANSYS writes the restart files (.Xnnn).(ALL) At the same substep frequency for all load stepsANSYS writes the .Xnnn files at the same frequency for all load steps in the solution.(LAST) Write for last load step onlyANSYS writes the .Xnnn results file for the final substep only.(N) Specify load step numberANSYS writes the .Xnnn results file for load step N only. The software writes other load steps at the default frequency or at a frequency defined by a previous Restart Controls (RESCONTROL) modeling object. Use the Load step number (N) box to specify this value.(-N) Every 'Nth' load stepANSYS writes N equally spaced .Xnnn results files within a load step. Use the Load step number (-N) box to specify this value. box to specify this value.(NONE) No multiframe restart filesANSYS does not create any multiframe restart files.
Frequency at which restart files are written (Frequency) Lets you control the intervals at which ANSYS writes the restart files (.Xnnn).(NONE) Do not write for this load stepANSYS does not create any multiframe restart files. (LAST) Write for last load step onlyANSYS writes the .Xnnn results file for the final substep of the load step only.(N) Write every Nth substep of a load stepANSYS writes the .Xnnn results file for substep N that you specify in the Every 'Nth' substep of a load step (N) box.(-N) Write every N equally spaced substep within a substepANSYS writes N equally spaced .Xnnn results files within a load step. Use the Every 'Nth' substep of a load step (N) box to specify this value.
Maximum number of restart files (MAXFILES) Lets you control the maximum number of Xnnn files that the software saves for each load step.
Total number of restart files to keep (MAXTotalFiles) Available when Maximum number of restart files (MAXFILES) is set to (-1) Overwrite existing restart files.Lets you specify the total number of restart files that you want to keep.
Maximum number of restart files for each load step (N) Available when Maximum number of restart files (MAXFILES) is set to (N) specify maximum number of restart files.Lets you control the maximum number of Xnnn files that the software saves for each load step.
