Orbit Visualizer user interface
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| (1) File Operation | Contains commands related to the orbit simulation object. Save ImageLets you save the image as a png or bmp format.Orbit InfoLets you view the list of orbit characteristics for the orbit simulation object.OptionLets you filter various display entities, such as the orbit text or meridian lines in the graphics window. You can also change the size of the model, the triad, and Satellite-Sun/Satellite-Planet Vectors in the graphics window. |
| (2) View Operation | Contains commands that let you control various viewing orientations and result types to be displayed in the graphics window:Ascending NodeLets you display the orbit view from the viewpoint at which the orbit passes from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere.Vernal EquinoxLets you display the position of the model from the viewpoint at which the ecliptic intersects with the celestial equator.Normal to OrbitLets you display the position of the model from the viewpoint of normal to orbit. From SunLets you display the position of the model from the viewpoint of sun. From StarLets you display the position of the model from the viewpoint of star.Flip ViewLets you reverse the view.Zoom AllLets you adjust the center and scale of a view so that the objects in the model are displayed in the graphics window.PerspectiveLets you change the view from parallel projection to perspective projection.Look atLets you change the direction of the camera to focus on either the planet or the model.ResultsLets you open the results file and specify the results type to be displayed in the graphics window. |
| (3) View mode | Contains commands that let you pan, zoom and rotate the model image in the graphics window. |
| (4) Graphics window | Displays the model as an image or as an animation. |
| (5) Ambient Light | Lets you change the degree of shadowing rendered on the planet displayed in the graphics window, by moving the Ambient Light slider to the degree of shadowing you want. |
| (6) Animation | Shows an animated 3D representation of the model objects. The type of animation that plays in the graphics window depends on view operation command you choose.Runs the animation from the current frame to the end.Resets the animation to view the next position of the orbit with the angle increment of theta 15 degrees. Resets the animation to view the previous position of the orbit with the angle increment of theta 15 degrees. Stops the animation.Increases the playback speed of the animation.Decreases the playback speed of the animation. |
