Geometric Misalignment dialog box (Simcenter Nastran)

Use this dialog box to model misalignment of rotors in a Simcenter Nastran rotor dynamic analysis for the SOL 414,111 harmonic response or SOL 414,129 transient response solution types. To create a Geometric Misalignment load, you must first create a CLINK element. If you did not create a CLINK element yet, see Model a misaligned rotor.

Name
Name Sets the name of the load. The name appears in the Load Container and the Information window.
Description Sets the description of the load. The description appears in the Information window. You can use Cut , Copy , and Paste commands to copy and paste the description.
Destination Folder
Load Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which to store the load. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical list of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Elements
Group Reference Lets you apply the Geometric Misalignment load to an existing group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the CLINK element to which you want to apply the misalignment load.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Excluded Lets you remove individual entities from the selection.
Rotor
Rotor Specifies the rotor region to which you want to apply the misalignment load. The rotor region provides the rotation speed and the coordinate system for the rotor direction. If you are creating misalignment between two rotor regions in the rotor assembly, you need to specify only one of the rotor regions. Because the rotation speed and direction must be the same in both rotor regions, you can select either one. Select an existing rotor region or click Create Region to create a new rotor region. To filter a long list of rotor regions, click More Options to display options for searching and filtering the rotor regions.
Translation
The misalignments are defined in cylindrical coordinates.Set these options individually or in combination to create a variety of misalignments. For a summary of the options required to create different types of misalignments, see Misalignment combinations below.
Amplitude Sets the distance for a translational (radial) misalignment.
Phase Sets the angle of the translation misalignment compared to the X-axis.
Axial Offset Sets the distance for an axial (parallel) misalignment.
Rotation
The misalignments are defined in cylindrical coordinates.Set these options to create a rotational misalignment. To create both a rotational misalignment and a translational misalignment, set these options and a combination of the options in the Translation group. For a summary of the options required to create different types of misalignments, see Misalignment combinations below.
Amplitude Sets the amplitude of rotational (angular) misalignment in degrees.
Phase Sets angle of the rotational (angular) misalignment in degrees measured from the X-axis

Misalignment combinations

The following table lists the possible misalignment combinations and the options you need to set to create the misalignment.
