Surface-to-Surface Thermal Conductance dialog box (Abaqus)
| Type | |
|---|---|
| Type | Specifies the face pair creation method to use to identify the contacting surfaces.Automatic PairingCreates face pairs automatically using the Create Automatic Face Pairs dialog box.ManualLets you create face pairs manually by selecting a Master Surface and a Slave Surface |
| Destination Folder | |
| Simulation Object Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Automatic Face Pair Creation | |
| Create Face Pairs | Appears when the type is set to Automatic Pairing.Opens the Create Automatic Face Pairs dialog box, which you can use to specify face pair generation properties, preview face pairs, and generate face pairs automatically. |
| Master Surface | |
| Master Surface | Appears when the type is set to Manual.Lets you select the master (contacting) surface in the pair. This source face defines the direction for the contacts that get created. Select an existing region or click New Region to create a new region. |
| Slave Surface | |
| Slave Surface | Appears when the type is set to Manual.Lets you select the slave (contacted) surface in the contact pair. Select an existing region or click New Region to create a new region. See Region dialog box. |
| Swap Region | |
| Reverses the master and slave regions in an existing pair. The master and the slave regions must contain the same type of entity (that is, faces, element faces, and so on). See Region dialog box. | |
| Contact Smoothing | |
| Surface Smoothing | Lets you select or create a Surface Smoothing modeling object to specify the technique to use to improve the contact stress and pressure accuracy for axisymmetric (or nearly axisymmetric) surfaces. For more information, see Surface Smoothing dialog box (Abaqus).Select a modeling object from the list or click Create Modeling Object to create one. For more information, see Surface Smoothing dialog box (Abaqus). |
| Contact Type | |
| Thermal Conductance | Lets you define thermal conductance properties. |
| Mechanical Conductance | Lets you define mechanical contact properties. |
| Thermal Contact | |
| Appears when the Thermal Conductance check box is selected. | |
| Conductance Dependency | Controls how the software models the conductive heat transfer.ClearanceModels the heat transfer as a function of the gap clearance between the contacting surfaces.PressureModels the heat transfer as a function of the contact pressure at the interface between the contacting surfaces.Clearance and PressureModels the heat transfer as a function of both the clearance and the contact pressure. |
| Clearance Dependency/Pressure Dependency | Depending on the option you select from the Conductance Dependency list, select or create the field or fields that define the heat transfer as a function of clearance and or contact pressure.Options include:Select Existing Field from List opens the Fields dialog box, where you can select a field.A field can define a magnitude that varies with independent variables such as frequency, temperature, or time. For more information about fields, see Fields.Formula Constructor opens the Formula Field dialog box, where you can define a formula to construct a field. For more information, see Define a boundary condition using a formula field.Table Constructor opens the Table Field dialog box, where you can define tabular data to construct a field. For more information, see Define a boundary condition using a table field and Define a material property using a table field.Plot (XY) plots the field as an XY graph. For more information, see Graph overview.Overlay (XY) overlays a plot on an existing plot. You can overlay up to 50 plots. For more information, see Overlay plots. |
| Mechanical Contact | |
| Appears when the Mechanical Conductance check box is selected. | |
| Mechanical Contact Properties | Lets you select or create a Mechanical Contact Pair modeling object to define properties for the pairs of surfaces that may contact or interact during the analysis. For more information, see:Defining contact pairs (Abaqus Structural and Thermal analyses)Abaqus Analysis Guide: Defining Contact Interactions chapter, Defining contact in Abaqus/Standard topic.Abaqus Keywords Guide: *SURFACE, *CONTACT PAIR, *SURFACE INTERACTION, *SURFACE BEHAVIOR, *FRICTIONSelect a modeling object from the list or click Create Modeling Object to create one. |
| Boundary Condition Generation | |
| Associate to Automatic Pair Recipe | Appears when the type is set to Automatic Pairing.Specifies whether automatically generated face pairs are associated with the automatic pair recipe. The automatic pair recipe is the set of parameters on the Create Automatic Face Pairs dialog box that determine how to compute and group face pairs. When this option is selected, the generated pairs appear in the Simulation Navigator with the prefix Auto. If the master part updates, the software recalculates the face pairs and updates the boundary condition. When this option is cleared, the generated contact pairs are not associated with the face pair recipe. If the master part updates, the software does not update the contact pairs. These contact pairs behave the same as manually created pairs. |
